With growth pressures and state housing policy debates, a local-control approach will emphasize keeping zoning and land-use authority in the hands of Park County residents rather than deferring to statewide standards.

- Protect private landowners from excessive regulation.
- Keep permitting predictable and limited to legitimate health/safety concerns.

When I review and revise subdivision or short-term rental rules, the focus would be on preventing government overreach while still addressing legitimate public impacts.
Public Safety & Wildfire Mitigation
- Fund sheriff, emergency response, and wildfire mitigation first.
- Ensure preparedness plans are practical and locally driven.

Given wildfire risk in forested areas of Park County, this mean prioritizing defensible-space education, interagency coordination, and clear evacuation planning.

Work cooperatively with independently elected officials (Sheriff, Clerk & Recorder, Treasurer) rather than consolidating power.
Transparency & Due Process

Subsidiarity Principle
Decisions should be made at the lowest practical level — precinct, district, or county — before escalating to state or federal solutions.
