County issues and conservative strategy Blog coming weekly
We want to maintain & NEED Conservative Governance Principles Applied at the County Level
Fiscal Restraint
- Prioritize balanced budgets and limit new taxes.
- Require clear cost–benefit analysis before expanding programs.
- Focus spending on core county responsibilities (roads, public safety, elections, land records).
- As I review updates to the county’s Strategic Master Plan, a fiscally restrained approach will scrutinize long-term financial commitments and avoid creating ongoing taxpayer obligations without voter input.

Constitutional / Small-Government Principles I want to promote
At the county level, constitutional governance needs to center on:
Limited Scope of Authority
As a Commisioner I will operate within clearly defined statutory authority and avoid expanding bureaucracy unnecessarily.
Separation of Powers Respect
Work cooperatively with independently elected officials (Sheriff, Clerk & Recorder, Treasurer) rather than consolidating power.
Transparency & Due Process
- Open meetings
- Clear land-use processes
- Equal treatment under county code
Subsidiarity Principle
District 3 Distinguishing Issues we will address:
Fair allocation of county resources
Preservation of South Park’s agricultural & historic identity
Balancing tourism revenue with community stability
Highway corridor reliability
Fiscal caution in a smaller tax base
Decisions should be made at the lowest practical level — precinct, district, or county — before escalating to state or federal solutions.
Local Control
- Resist top-down mandates from the state whenever possible.
- Preserve county authority over land use and zoning decisions.
Locally:
With growth pressures and state housing policy debates, a local-control approach will emphasize keeping zoning and land-use authority in the hands of Park County residents rather than deferring to statewide standards.
Property Rights
- Protect private landowners from excessive regulation.
- Keep permitting predictable and limited to legitimate health/safety concerns.
Locally:
When I review and revise subdivision or short-term rental rules, the focus would be on preventing government overreach while still addressing legitimate public impacts.
Public Safety & Wildfire Mitigation
- Fund sheriff, emergency response, and wildfire mitigation first.
- Ensure preparedness plans are practical and locally driven.
Locally:
Given wildfire risk in forested areas of Park County, this mean prioritizing defensible-space education, interagency coordination, and clear evacuation planning.
Tourism & Economic Stability
- Assess tourism dependency risks
- Support local business resilience beyond seasonal spikes
- Balance visitor economy with resident needs
Locally: District 3 has a large commuter population and looking at the needs there balanced with tourism influx in the area due to our location

Key Questions For District 3 voters I want to hear
Growth & Character
- Are you concerned about overdevelopment changing the basin’s rural feel?
- Do short-term rentals impact your neighborhood?
- As a realator, property manager or land developer does the permitting process and regulations around STR’s affect your decisions to do business here?
- Should zoning remain largely as-is?
Housing
- Is workforce housing affecting local businesses?
- Does the workforce that needs to live here need more housing?
- Should the county create structured housing initiatives, or reduce regulatory barriers instead?
Roads & Services
- Are county roads maintained equitably?
- Does snow removal meet expectations?
- Are emergency services adequately funded & do you know if those funds are being used to meet the needs of the people they serve?
Water & Environment
- Are well regulations appropriate?
- Should growth approvals consider long-term water sustainability more heavily?
Budget & Governance
- Is the county prioritizing core services (roads, sheriff, clerk)?
- Are planning initiatives financially sustainable?

Opinions
We NEED a strong leader in these times for our County!
Given the current political climate in our state, it’s critical that this predominantly red county has strong, steady representation—someone who will stand firmly on the Constitution and not yield to mandates that conflict with it.
At the same time, recent events around the world have underscored the importance of local preparedness. We must be proactive and unified in ensuring our county is ready to respond to any challenge. That means fully supporting and coordinating the resources and teams already in place—our first responders, wildfire personnel, emergency management, and mitigation efforts—so they are equipped, aligned, and ready to protect our community when it matters most.
I am not for sale, and I do not speak for anyone but the people I serve!
Too many voices in this county are shaped by special interests or outside agendas—I am not one of them. My commitment is to the people. I will listen carefully to the facts, the discussions, and the debate surrounding every issue, and I will work alongside the two conservative Republican commissioners you elected to make thoughtful, well-reasoned decisions for the more than 18,000 residents of this county.
Accountability matters. The rules and processes in place must be followed by everyone. If a policy is flawed or no longer serves the public well, the proper path is to petition for change—not ignore it. When I encounter a process I don’t fully understand, I will do the necessary research to understand its purpose and intent. And if, after careful review, it no longer makes sense, I will take action to improve it through the appropriate channels.
Follow the Money is something I have always stood by!
I will hold all elected officials and county staff to a high standard of financial integrity, just as I have throughout my work across multiple organizations. In my experience, when you follow the money, you uncover the truth—either sound stewardship or serious misconduct.
While serving as CFO of a national nonprofit, I identified small financial discrepancies that others had overlooked. What began as minor irregularities ultimately led to a broader investigation, revealing that the Executive Director had been misappropriating funds. That process concluded with their removal for financial fraud.
That experience reinforced my commitment to accountability, transparency, and ensuring that every dollar is managed with integrity and purpose.
How did I come to the decision to Run for Commissioner?
About a month ago, I was approached to step in and fill a gap that several people recognized in this race. I didn’t take that lightly—I spent time in prayer and seeking clear confirmation before moving forward. Ultimately, I chose to run for several reasons, one of the most important being the need for a strong, critical thinker who can stand firm under pressure and not back down in the face of attacks.
My background as a medic placed me in some of the most high-stress situations imaginable, and both during and after that time, I’ve faced numerous challenges that have strengthened my resilience and sharpened my judgment. I stand for truth—and for communicating that truth with clarity and grace, a principle I’ve worked hard to develop.
I’m confident in my ability to collaborate effectively with the team already in place, and I bring with me a wide range of resources and support to ensure I can serve and lead at the highest level.
Final Thoughts
- This is business – pick the best candidate for the job – set emotions and friendships aside
- Let’s all practice being an unoffedable team
- Pray on all decisions – Just like I do and Jesus would have us all do
